How to get AWS Solution Architect Certified

This is not a crash course but mostly a way to revise each and every part of the AWS Solutions Architect course to successfully complete the exam.

Theory :

  • IAM Users, Policy, Roles, MFA , AWS STS

IAM User — IAM(Identity and access management) user is a general user with a username and password. In general it is an account created for a person who would be then allowed to operate as per the roles provided to him

Policy — The IAM user has a set of rules or provision to perform a certain set of actions and these rules are known as policy. A policy is a file written in JSON format defining what kind of privileges the user has , e.g root user or administrative privilege or read only privilege.

IAM Roles — Roles define the level of authority a user can have over a certain assets of AWS, admin role which has the root user privilege or read only or limited access. we can create different groups and assign roles to them and then assign users to that role. Note : you cannot have nested roles in a group

MFA — Multi factor authentication can be done using

— Google Authenticator

— Biometrics

— Hardware

AWS STS — Aws Security token service which says you can assign a token to a user for a limited accessibility for accessing a certain asset on aws. e.g you have a user Andrea and you create a group A and then to give limited access, you can assign a security token service to that group and then Andrea would have limited access to the asset on aws.

Assuming that you have a free tier account on AWS services, we will discuss how to shorten the Sign-in URL for IAM users in this account.

So, go to the console or the dashboard and type IAM and on the very top you should see the following written words

IAM dashboard

Sign-in URL for IAM users in this account

Below which you have the ability to create an alias for your URL so as to shorten it and provided the alias should be a unique one.
